In the course of BETWEEN Phase 7 - Complete the Discrepancy Analysis, the team was looking for a particular route Krystal might complete independently. They reviewed Krystal's work schedule to see what might be possible between the different hospital locations. Then they proceeded on to Phase 8.
In the BETWEEN portion of Phase 8 - Determine Supports to Address Discrepant Steps, the team decided that going independently between any of the various hospital locations would be impractical. The hospital was too large. The distances between sites were too great. The building layout was too confusing. And, the traffic in the hallways was too unpredictable. Even with lots of help, Krystal would have a hard time completing a route independently. In the end, the team decided Krystal could wheel herself through the doorways she encountered. This would allow her to participate in the transition between locations, as well as be a functional skill to learn in other situations. Wheeling through doorways would assist caregivers needing to hold open doors. The team counted 18 doorways Krystal could wheel through and then proceeded on to Phase 9 - Develop a Travel Plan.
