Phase 7

PHASE 7 SIMULATION - LAUNDRY
NOTE: No images of persons with disabilities appear in these simulations.

A discrepancy analysis of Matt doing Combination 2 reveals he can complete all the steps. However, Matt's team decides to look for steps where teaching skills or using adaptations would make Matt more efficient. They decide to review the entire activity again having Matt bring supplies and coins instead of using the bill changer and detergent dispenser. The team then looks at the following areas to see where new difficulties might exist.
Laundry Detergent Choices
Bringing along laundry supplies will add to what Matt must do to get ready before leaving home, as well as increase what Matt must carry with him to the laundromat. Is there a way to reduce the number or quantity of supplies Matt will need to transport with him?
Change
Not using the bill changer at the laundromat will mean Matt needs to have plenty of quarters on him before he leaves home. Is there a way Matt could carry several dollars worth of quarters on his person?
Calendar
Using the washers, dryers, and folding tables in only one small area of the laundromat will mean avoiding any busy times when other customers are more likely to be present. Is there a way to reduce the possibly that Matt won't be able to find the space he needs or the machines he wants?
Laundry on Table
Unlike washing and drying, folding clothes does not have to be done at the laundromat. Is there some way to make folding clothes easier or eliminate it at the laundromat altogether?
Laundry in Basket
Carrying dirty laundry in a bag to the Laundromat isn't as problematic as trying to keep folded clean clothes in order as they are carried back home. Is there a way to prevent washed clothes from being messed up?
Laundry in Cart
Maneuvering a wheeled cart full of clothes from a wheelchair, can be challenging. Is there a way to avoid having to use a cart altogether and still move wet clothes from the washer to the dryer?
