Phase 7

PHASE 7 SIMULATION - SHOPPING
NOTE: No images of persons with disabilities appear in these simulations.

In Phase 7, Amy's team uses the list of steps generated in Phase 6 to do a discrepancy analysis of Amy completing Combination 3. Discrepancies include difficulty spotting the cream, cinnamon, and vanilla sitting on the shelves. She also had trouble catching sight of a checkout lane when there wasn't a line of people waiting.
Searching for cream Amy will need to be able to distinguish the size and shape of containers surrounding the carton of cream in order to narrow where she looks.
Searching for cinnamon Amy will need to understand that spices are arranged left to right in alphabetical order from the top shelf down. She'll also need to know that cinnamon comes both in a ground form and in sticks.
Searching for vanilla Amy will have to recognize the difference between imitation vanilla and pure vanilla extract.
In addition to discrepancies recognizing particular items, Amy's team also knows that shopping from a recipe list will not help her learn the layout of the store. Over time, Amy will need to become more familiar with individual aisles and other product categories.
