PHASE 6 SIMULATION - LAUNDRY

To get a better idea of all the movement demands involved, Matt's team breaks Combination 2 into a sequence of steps. This will allow them to view Matt doing laundry as a whole activity.

SEQUENCE OF STEPS

Combination 2A

1. Open door and wheel through middle entrance.

2. Turn right to go into section of laundry facility where change and detergent dispensers are located.

3. Position wheelchair in front of dollar bill change machine.

4. Take out dollar bill and insert into machine.

5. Collect four quarters from cup below.

6. Repeat steps 7 and 8 until necessary amount of change is obtained.

7. Wheel forward to detergent dispenser.

8. Select soap, deposit quarters, push in tray, and remove box of detergent.

9. Repeat for purchase of fabric softener if desired.

10. Turn around and wheel back through open doorway.

11. Turn right and wheel to first available top-loading machine on left side of aisle.

12. Position chair in front of washer, lift lid, open box of detergent, and pour into machine.

13. Remove laundry from bag, place into washer, and close lid.

14. Select fabric selector, water temperature, and put correct number of quarters into change tray.

15. Slide in tray containing quarters.

16. Get cart with wheels and position next to washer.

17. Lift lid and remove wet laundry into cart.

18. Repeat steps 15 through 21 for additional loads.

19. Move wet laundry to nearest available dryer.

20. Open dryer door, remove wet clothes from cart into dryer.

21. Shut dryer door, deposit money in change slot, and start the dryer.

22. Open dryer door, remove dry laundry to cart or folding table if available.

23. Repeat steps 24 through 26 for additional loads of laundry.

24. Move dry clothes to nearest folding table.

25. Sort, fold, and place laundry in piles in the cart or on available space of folding table.

26. Get out laundry bag and put clean piles of laundry into bag.

27. Put laundry bag in lap and wheel to middle door of laundromat.

28. Open door and exit laundromat.
