PHASE 5 SIMULATION - NICK
NOTE: No images of persons with disabilities appear in these simulations.

Although everyone understood that each of the six options was possible, some team members wanted to prioritize the selection process using Roy's safety as the decisive factor. Roy's parents, on the other hand, felt the presence of nondisabled peers should guide the selection process. In the end, the team decided that questions of safety would be addressed as part of the task and discrepancy analysis. The team elected to use access to nondisabled peers as a guiding principle because it was a value important to the family. The team selected two potential options.

Neighborhood Carpool
Roy rides with other children from the neighborhood attending the same school.
Regular School Bus
Roy rides the regular school bus that collects children in the neighborhood.

An initial comparison provided no clear favorite. The team decided to complete an Travel Analysis Guide for each of the two alternatives. These results still didn't allow the whole team to identify one option as better. Thus, the team made the decision to consider both options and proceeded to Phase 6.
